Silicone injections are FDA approved, safe and most importantly, long lasting. Silicone oil is injected in micro-droplets, through a tiny needle at different points in the treatment area. Over time skin cells called fibrolasts produce new collagen, which in turn grows around the silicone droplets. The injection stimulates more collagen growth filling the wrinkle or impression in the skin.
The most common areas treated are:
- Lips
- Frown lines
- Acne scars
- Crow’s feet
- Forehead lines
Silicone injections can be used alone or in conjunction with other facial rejuvenation procedures such as laser skin resurfacing or chemical peels. There will be discomfort during the injections. Slight swelling may occur. Most patient’s are up and moving immediately after treatment.
