 Jason N. Pozner, M.D. F.A.C.S. - Medical Director
Jason Pozner, M.D., F.A.C.S., can truly claim aesthetic surgery and skin care as his life's work. The son of a successful health spa and diet center physician in New Jersey, Dr. Pozner is certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery, and is a member of the American Society of Plastic Surgeons, the largest and most prestigious organization of board-certified plastic surgeons in the world as well as the American Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery and the American Society for Lasers in Medicine and Surgery. He has been a consultant or investigator for many aesthetic companies and member of several advisory boards, including Sciton, Mentor, Bioform, Coapt, Medicis, Allergan and Ultrashape.
 Dr. Pozner graduated from the Mount Sinai School of Medicine in New York with a Distinction in Research. He trained for five years in an intensive general surgery residency at the Mount Sinai Medical Center in New York. He completed a Microsurgery Fellowship at Montefiore Medical Center in New York and his Plastic Surgery residency at New York's Downstate Medical Center. He completed an additional fellowship in aesthetic and endoscopic plastic surgery in Maryland where he was an assistant professor of Plastic Surgery at the esteemed Johns Hopkins Medical Center. He is currently adjunct clinical faculty at Cleveland Clinic Florida Department of Plastic Surgery.
The founder of the Sanctuary Plastic Surgery and co-owner of Sanctuary Medical Aesthetic Center in Boca Raton, Florida, Dr. Pozner is a highly respected authority on both surgical and non-invasive plastic surgery techniques. Through these two facilities, Dr. Pozner and his medical partners offer a full range of cosmetic surgery procedures, laser treatments, varicose vein therapies, weight loss assistance, and clinical age management.
The nearly 11,000 square foot facility serves an international clientele that appreciates being treated like family. Dr. Pozner is widely experienced in the latest and most effective cosmetic procedures, and is credited for inventing the fast-healing Artic Peel laser procedure.
Dr. Pozner is licensed in Florida and New York. He routinely delivers presentations across the globe to share his knowledge with other physicians. He lives in Boca Raton with his wife Larissa, their two Westies, and their seven parrots.

David J. Goldberg, M.D.
 David J. Goldberg, M.D. is recognized nationally and internationally for his innovative work with skin lasers, cosmetic dermatology and facial rejuvenation techniques. A board-certified dermatologist in practice since 1985, he has treated patients and trained physicians throughout the world in the use of these cutting-edge, non-surgical cosmetic technologies. Under his direction, Skin Laser & Surgery Specialists of New York and New Jersey has been a pioneer in delivering the latest in skin laser and cosmetic dermatology to the public.
Dr. Goldberg earned his medical degree from Yale University and completed his dermatology residency and dermatologic surgical fellowship at New York University Medical Center. He is currently a clinical professor and director of Laser Research in the department of Dermatology at NY's Mount Sinai School of Medicine.
Dr. Goldberg has published over 125 academic papers and has contributed to over 10 academic textbooks. He has authored texts on laser dermatology, laser hair removal, laser facial rejuvenation, photo-damaged skin and skin wrinkle fillers. He has also co-authored two books for the general public: Light Years Younger and Secrets of Great Skin.
Dr. Goldberg is active in professional societies and was elected president of the American Society for Lasers in Medicine & Surgery. He has served as chairperson of the Ethics Committees of the American Academy of Dermatology, the American Society for Lasers in Medicine and Surgery and the American Society for Dermatologic Surgery. He was a member of the Board of Directors of the American Society for Lasers in Medicine and Surgery, the American Society for Dermatologic Surgery and the International Society for Dermatologic Surgery. Dr. Goldberg was recently elected to the Board of Directors of the American Academy of Dermatology and Secretary to the Board of Directors of the American Society for Dermatologic Surgery. He also serves as a co-vice-president of the Skin Cancer Foundation.
Dr. Goldberg was the first recipient of the prestigious Leon Goldman award, named after the founder of laser surgery. Additionally, Dr. Goldberg was named one of the "Top Ten Laser Surgeons in the U.S." by Self magazine, one of the "Best Doctors in America" by Woodward/White, Inc., a "Best Doctor in America" by Best Doctors Inc. and as a Castle Connolly Best Doctors in the NY Metro area.

Kurt J. Wagner, M.D. F.A.C.S.
 Kurt J. Wagner, M.D. relocated to Florida after a successful 30-year practice in Beverly Hills, CA. A fifth generation physician and holocaust survivor, Dr. Wagner is a Phi Beta Kappa graduate from New York University and State University of New York Downstate Medical Center. He received his surgical training at Long Island Jewish Hospital at Cedars of Lebanon in Los Angeles, followed by Plastic Surgery residencies in Oklahoma and at New York Hospital. He was the Chief of Plastic Surgery in the U.S. Air Force for North Central and Northeastern U.S. before starting his private practice in California.
He is Board Certified in Plastic Surgery by the American Board of Plastic Surgery and the American Board of Cosmetic Surgery and is a life member of the American Society of Plastic Surgeons. He is the coauthor of How to Win in the Youth Game, Beauty by Design, and The War Against Aging and the founder of the American Society of Aesthetic Reconstructive Surgery. His breast and chin implant designs are in universal use and his techniques have been the subject of many television, newspaper and magazine pieces. Many Hollywood celebrities can be counted in his cast of over 20,000 patients but perhaps more importantly, a litany of plastic surgeons and their families as well. Dr. Wagner retired to South Florida with his wife Kathy and beloved dog Angelica to be near his grandchild, but his inventive mind and spirit soon returned him to work when he realized his lifelong dream to be part of a medical practice that provides total rejuvenation and enhancement. We are quite fortunate to have someone of his caliber and experience.

Oscar M. Ramirez, MD
 Dr. Oscar Ramirez is Board Certified in Plastic Surgery by the American Board of Plastic Surgery. He was a Fulbright scholar in high school then was graduated as a Physician and Surgeon from "The Major National University of San Marcos" in Lima-Peru, officially considered the oldest University in the Americas. He trained in General Surgery at Franklin Square Hospital, an affiliate of The Johns Hopkins Medical Center in Baltimore, Maryland then completed his Plastic Surgery Residency at the University of Pittsburgh. He did additional fellowship training in Craniofacial Surgery with world-renowned Fernando Ortiz-Monasterio in Mexico City. He holds academic appointments as a Clinical Instructor in Anatomy at the University of San Marcos, Clinical Assistant Professor at The Johns Hopkins University and The University of Maryland, and is adjunct clinical faculty at Cleveland Clinic Florida.
Dr. Ramirez is an internationally acclaimed Plastic Surgeon known for his landmark publications in reconstructive and aesthetic surgery. He is considered one of the pioneers in Facial Endoscopic Surgery and has advanced the art and science of aesthetic surgery in Body Contouring, Breast Reduction, Facial Implant Surgery and Rejuvenation. He has designed many surgical instruments and facial implants and holds provisional patents and trademarks for some of them. He has been featured in many important newspapers and magazines such as Allure, Prevention, U.S. News, The Baltimore Sun, Warfield Business Record, Towson Times, Votre Beaute (France), Der Spiegel (Germany) and recently in Elle Magazine in Russia and Greece. He has been interviewed by TV stations in Australia, Germany, Japan, Brazil, Peru, Chile and The United States.
Dr. Ramirez devotes a significant part of his professional time teaching other plastic surgeons. He has traveled to five continents and more than 50 countries as an invited lecturer or visiting professor. He is actively involved in research and teaching in his new location at Sanctuary Plastic Surgery working along with one of his former fellows, Dr. Jason Pozner in Boca Raton, Florida.
Dr. Ramirez has written over 150 scientific articles for peer review magazines, book chapters and others. He also has written several textbooks. He has been selected among the "2000 Outstanding Scientists of the 21st Century" by Melrose Press Limited, Cambridge, England. He also has been nominated as one the "America's Top Doctors and Hospitals" (A Castle Connolly Guide), "America's Top Plastic Surgeons" etc.

Allison Schwedelson, D.O.
Medicine has been a part of Dr. Schwedelson's life since she can remember; her father is a urologist and her mother is a nurse. She decided as a child that medicine would be a part of her life too. She completed her undergraduate education at the University of Florida. Dr. Schwedelson earned her medical degree from Nova Southeastern University-College of Osteopathic Medicine in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. She did her internship and completed a family medicine residency at Broward General Medical Center, where she also completed her dermatology residency. Dr. Schwedelson is a board eligible dermatologist now practicing general and pediatric dermatology in Boca Raton. She diagnoses and treats skin conditions such as psoriasis, skin cancer, acne, and warts.

Christine Haugen M.D.
Dr. Haugen is Board Certified in Plastic Surgery by the American Board of Plastic Surgery and is a member of the American Society of Plastic Surgeons. She trained at Brown University for General Surgery and was the first woman to graduate from the University of Miami Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery program. Dr. Haugen completed an additional fellowship in Research and Micro-vascular Surgery and was honored, as the top student in her class, by being selected to perform reconstructive surgery in a humanitarian mission in Ecuador. Dr. Haugen has authored multiple publications and has been selected as one of "America's Top Surgeons" and "America's Top Plastic Surgeons" by the Consumers Research Council and has been listed in multiple additions of Who's Who. She is active in many charities and was recently honored as one of the "Exceptional Women of Broward County." Dr. Haugen has a special interest in minimally invasive plastic surgery and has performed nearly 2000 "mini-facelifts." She lives in Fort Lauderdale with her husband and her son. We are lucky to have her on our staff at SMAC.

Murray J. Pozner, M.D.
 Dr. Murray Pozner has been helping patients successfully lose weight for over thirty years. He is a member of the National Lipid Association and previously owned and operated The Englewood Cliffs Spa in Englewood Cliffs, New Jersey.
Dr. Pozner utilizes his extensive experience in diet and nutrition to help patients reach their weight loss goals. Dr. Murray, as he is affectionately called, designs a program for each individual patient based on an interview with the patient at the first visit along with their physical examination and lab work.
Besides diet and exercise, the patient's program may include appetite suppressants and other medication. You are monitored closely to assure you lose weight steadily and safely.

Mitchell Matez, D.O.
 Dr. Mitchell Matez has 20 years of clinical experience in General Surgery and in Alternative and Complementary Medicine. He has dedicated the last five years of his practice to alternative and naturopathic medicine. He strongly believes his responsibility is to teach his patients how to prevent disease. To that end, Dr. Matez educates his patients about the value of proper nutrition, exercise and supplementation with vitamins and other nutritionals.

David J. Blyweiss, M.D.
 David J. Blyweiss, MD began his medical career as a clinical pharmacist in South Florida prior to earning his medical degree from St. George's University School of Medicine in 1982. This dual background allowed him to appreciate the relevance of conventional pharmaceutical/surgical based treatments in acute medical conditions, but also to recognize where these approaches fell short in treating the majority of patients who suffered from the chronic degenerative diseases of "western civilization origin".
Over the last twenty years, with the nutritional medical knowledge base expanding in the fields of nutrigenomics, proteomics and other related "orthomolecular" disciplines directed towards patients' biochemical individuality, Dr. Blyweiss became an early adherent and experienced practitioner of what would become known as "functional medicine". Dr. Blyweiss has used this matrix of systems biology to effectively manage and alleviate the symptoms related to the most "difficult-to-treat" conditions by addressing the underlying causes, allowing the body to heal itself.
Dr. Blyweiss was one of the researchers doing the early work on chlorhexidine (phisohex) while earning his first post graduate degree at Temple University School of Pharmacy. During medical school he worked with the WHO (World Health Organization) in vaccinating children in the islands of the Caribbean. He has traveled the world, most recently to Gabon and Croatia working closely with teams of specialists to identify new plant life and natural products for possible human benefit. He has consulted for and created state-of-the-art nutritional supplements for multiple nutritional companies since 1999.His most recent accomplishment was forming Eden Laboratories Ltd. doing stem cell research and transplants in Belize, CA. He is currently in private practice in South Florida where he resides with his family.

Dr. Tami De Araujo
 Dr. Tami De Araujo is a board certified dermatologist and dermatological surgeon whose training includes residencies completed in both Brazil and the United States. After graduating with honors from the Universidade Catolica de Sao Paulo Medical School in Sao Paulo Dr. De Araujo completed her dermatology training at Santa Casa de Misericordia de Sao Paulo, one of the most prestigious programs in Brazil. Soon after graduation she moved to the United States to pursue her interest in dermatology clinical research at the University of Miami. She completed a second residency in dermatology also at the University of Miami, where she was honored with an invitation to be the Chief Resident. Dr. De Araujo has been recognized by the South Florida Dermatological Society with awards for excellence in clinical diagnosis and clinical research. Her professional associations include fellowship in the American Academy of Dermatology, American Medical Association and American Academy of Dermatologic Surgery. Dr. De Araujo’s professional interests include pediatric and general dermatology as well as the entire spectrum of cosmetic dermatology including lasers for vascular and pigmented lesions, rejuvenation of skin, scar treatment, Botox® and facial fillers.

Mark A. Rosenberg, M.D.
 Dr. Mark Rosenberg received his doctorate from Georgetown University School of Medicine in 1988 and has been involved with drug research since 1991.
With numerous certifications in several different fields of medicine, psychology and fitness. Dr. Rosenberg has a wide breadth of experience in both the public and private sector with particular expertise in the mechanism of cancer treatment failure.
His work has been published in trade and academic journals and he currently is researching new compounds to treat cancer and obesity, including receiving approval status for an investigational new drug that works with chemotherapy and a patent pending for an oral appetite suppressant.

Krystie P. Lennox PA-C graduated from Barry University in Miami, Florida with a Masters of Clinical Medical Sciences in 2004. Miss Lennox began her career specializing in cosmetic and general dermatology with Dr. Kenneth Beer. During her fellowship with Dr. Beer, she participated in numerous clinical trials as well as with the development of training materials and marketing programs.
To date, Miss Lennox's greatest accomplishment is the founding and directing of the Aesthetic Extender Symposium. She developed this conference to train and educate physician extenders on all cosmetic dermatology procedures. Krystie has also enjoyed lecturing for ASLMS, Galderma, ASPS, AES, IMCAS, and Cosmetic Dermatology Seminar. She has numerous publications that have appeared in leading journals such as Drugs in Dermatology, Cosmetic Dermatology, The Journal of the Ameri can Academy of Physician Assistants, Advance for Physician Assistants, The Journal of Dermatology for Physician Assistants and Skin & Aging.
Lennox is currently the Cosmetic Dermatology Department Editor of Advance News Magazine for Physician Assistants. Krystie is also a Laser Trainer/Consultant for Sciton. Miss Lennox is wrote a chapter on Intense Pulsed Light in conjunction with Dr. Jason N. Pozner and Dr. David J. Goldberg for the upcoming Elsevier series. Her current affiliations include Florida Academy of Physician Assistants, Association of Clinical Research Professionals, Society of Dermatology Physician Assistants and American Academy of Physician Assistants. Cheryl Staurowsky has joined SMAC as a clinical aesthetician. Licensed for over two decades Cheryl possesses extensive knowledge of the skin care industry. She has worked side by side with plastic surgeons for the last fifteen years and spends her days treating conditions such as sun damaged skin, hyperpigmented skin (including melasma), acne and rosacea.
Cheryl specializes in chemical peels, anti-aging treatments and surface exfoliation. Rest assured that your skin will be in excellent hands! Not only does Cheryl help patients achieve their skin care goals, she travels the country as a National Educator for PCA, teaching other professionals in dermatology and plastic surgery practices.
