Question

Question:
I've heard that the best way to treat acne and acne scarring is by combining multiple treatments like dermabrasion as well as chemical peel and laser resurfacing. Is this true?  Is it safe?  Is your procedure like this?

Answer:
We treat active acne with chemicals, with things like microdermabrasion, with skin care and often with some lasers like the Sciton 1319 laser.  For acne scarring, it is a whole different story.  We often treat acne scarring with different types of resurfacing lasers, namely fractional lasers, and also with a device called eMatrix.  When patients come to our practice for examination, we assess them and determine the best mode of treatment for their acne and acne scarring.
