Q:
Hi Dr. Blyweiss, My daughter works on the SMAC side of your office. I have major stomach issues. I get bloated and gassy after every meal. If I don't eat I am fine all day! I have gained 25 lbs over the last year and I don't know how or why. I am 55 and I have been 100 lbs all my life (except during pregnancy).
Also, I have noticed that when I have had to take an antibiotic for an illness, I lose weight!!! Have you ever heard of that? I have asked a few Drs. and they said it was impossible to relate the two. However, it would make sense if I have some kind of bacteria, right? How do you check for a bacteria in the intestines?
Hope you can help. Thank you, Susan

A:Hi Susan, It sounds like you have what we refer to as “ intestinal dysbiosis and small bowel bacterial overgrowth”. It’s not so far fetched that you lose weight with certain antibiotics…we have different bacteria in our gut: Firmicutes and bacteroidetes included which control the level of caloric continue...

Q:
Good morning Dr.Blyweiss,
I am an Esthetician and came across your web site by looking for Cheryl Staurowsky which I had PCA training a while ago.
I have been suffering from RA and some other immune disease since 2007. I identified myself after watching your video about adrenal gland. I also watched the video about a lady that has RA and went through all the injections like me. I was amazed that I can have a hope that I will not have to take so much drugs in order to feel better and leave a normal life.
Please let me know what would be the first step in order to start a treatment with you.
Thank you very much,
Suzana

Q:
Dr. Blyweiss,
I have Lupus Nephritis and Sjogren's. However, the main reason for contacting you is due to the ADHD I have suffered with my whole life. I am 41 years old and it is greatly affecting my life. My focus and "fogginess" has never been worse. I have tried every traditional avenue out there to help and have found little if NO results.
I am obviously on medications for the Lupus and Sjogren's and I don't know if my ADHD has worsened due to the side effects of the meds.
Either way, I was wondering if you would be able to work with me knowing in advance that we would need to keep my kidney numbers as a priority. .
Please contact me at your earliest convenience if you are able to help. I am very anxious for some permanent results. Thank you, Randy

Q:
Dr. Blyweiss,
I have recently been pseudo-diagnosed with neurocardiogenic syncope due to a failed tilt table test upon administration of nitroglycerin. As this is not a definitive diagnosis, I am not convinced this is what I have. However, I have started ProAmitine and have increased my fluid and salt intake. I do not feel significantly better on ProAmitine but have been instructed to give it some time to see if it truly will work. I would prefer to try other methods of combatting this as well as researching further to see if there could be other reasons for my unsteadiness ( I have never fainted). I also am very lethargic and know CFS can coincide with NCS. Any thoughts on how functional medicine would handle this scenario? I have had all sorts of hearing/balance/neuro/cardiac testing done but wonder if we have missed something along the way. Finding good physicians in South Florida is somewhat of an issue and referrals and good practice are hard to find (along with practitioners who take insurance and who hold insurance for themselves). Thanks for any guidance you can offer.

A:Dear Lee, We've had some good success with NCS. It appears that no one has looked at your adrenal glands for a "fatigue" issue (that's critical), as well other stressors, toxins allergens and microbes. We know now that CFS has layers of causalgia...for both we find that it's not just continue...

Q:
I have been on allergy shots for some 28 years and I am still on montlhy maintenance. I had been seeing a homeopathic physician who put me on a bunch of supplements. I told him I would like to be able to get off my shots. I am almost 60 years old and active but my BP has also been creeping up. With the new guideline for normal BP, I am falling into pre HTN. My primary would like to see if some of these supplements I am taking could be reduced. He wants to make sure that none of those is contributing to my pre HTN state. I also would like to be free from my allergy shots, if there is such a thing.
Thank you,
Gedie

Q:
Hello Dr. Blyweiss, I have been going to Functional Practioner and was diagnosed with Hashimoto disease and am being treated with RepairVite Line of products. I am curious about the shakes you mentioned for LeakyGut in one of your You Tube Videos. Can I order them from your office. Also what do you think of the RepairVite? Is it normal to feel like crap the first couple of weeks on the Gluten free diet. I feel so fatigged and moody!
I can deal with the Gluten free diet but can I ever have wine again? Does it have to be sulfite free? Will it ruin my work with the ReapirVite?
Thank you,
Audrey

A:Hi Audrey, Feeling worse before feeling better happens frequently when detoxing from something...even gluten. Truthfully, I cannot answer some of your questions because I do not have test results to respond to. I am not familiar with RepairVite products but you can definitely get some great continue...
