Fractional lasers are among the most popular devices we use today. These lasers treat a small percentage of the skin surface area at any one time. This allows us to rejuvenate the skin without significant downtime. The laser is used to treat various skin conditions including wrinkles, loose skin, acne scars, textural irregularities and pigment. Fractional resurfacing differs from other types of laser resurfacing in that there is very little to no downtime. Multiple treatments are often recommended but significant skin changes are seen after the first treatment. Fractional resurfacing is often combined with light laser resurfacing as the fractional portion enhances results without appreciably increasing downtime.
